How does Google shutting down Business Profile websites impact me and what do I need to do?

Google Business Profile is being discontinued. What does that mean and what are your next steps for your website?

Websites created with Google Business profiles are no more. Google recently announced that it is discontinuing websites created through Google Business Profile as of March 2024. Redirects will be set up to your Google Business Profile until June 10, 2024.

What Does This Mean For Your Business?

Unless you utilize Google’s service to create a website through Google Business Profile, this won’t affect you or your listing. If you did create your website through this service, it’s time to make plans to create a new website using a different service, preferably before June 10, 2024 when you’ll start receiving a 404 error.

To check if your business uses a Google Business Profile website, search for your business on Google, access your profile, and look in the contact details for a website link. If your business has a site created with Google, it will be indicated in this section. Otherwise, you’ll have the option to add your website link.

Additionally, if you are using a Google Ads campaign that links to a website created with Google Business Profile, the ad campaign will also stop running until the website link is updated.
