How do I find my IP address?

Your IP address identifies your internet connection to the websites you visit. Gate 39 may ask for it to:

  • Unblock you from a website's security firewall.
  • Exclude your team's visits from website analytics.
  • Allow your location to access a protected area of a site.

Find your public IP address

  1. Make sure you're connected to the network you want to share, such as your office Wi-Fi.
  2. Turn off any VPN unless you always work while connected to it. A VPN changes your IP address.
  3. Go to whatismyipaddress.com. Your IP address appears at the top of the page.
    • If that site doesn't load, search "what is my IP" in Google or Bing and your IP address will show at the top of the results.
  4. Copy the address and send it to the Gate 39 team.

What you'll see

  • IPv4: four sets of numbers separated by dots, for example 203.0.113.25. This is the one we usually need.
  • IPv6: a longer address with letters, numbers and colons, for example 2001:db8::1. If it's shown, please send it too.

Please note:

  • Don't use the IP from your device settings. An address starting with 192.168, 10. or 172.16–172.31 is your private address inside your network. It won't work for firewall or analytics settings.
  • Your IP can differ by location. Your office, home and phone connections usually each have a different IP address. Let us know which ones you need added.
  • Your IP may change. Many home and small-business internet connections get a new IP address from time to time. If you're blocked again later, check your IP address again and send us the new one.
